An exceptional example of Koos van den Akker's signature collage technique, this cotton blouse pieces together four distinct prints:  a brown lattice floral, a diamond trellis, a dotted contrast trim, and a rose-sprig sash that ties into a statement bow at the waist. Long sleeves gather into shirred cuffs, and the hem falls asymmetrically, hi-lo style, in classic Koos fashion. Labeled “Koos van den Akker, New York, den Haag,” placing this piece from the era when the designer maintained ateliers in both cities.

Each Koos piece is a one-of-a-kind construction — no two patchwork garments are ever exactly alike.
